This week's annual Battle of the Border team football camp at Southern Oregon took another big step this year.

The camp featured 350 campers and nine teams from Woodland, Calif. to La Pine, Ore. Most of team's attending this year's camp features coaches that are alums of the SOU football program.

This year's camp features scrimmages, 7-on-7 drills and practice sessions.

Baldwin To Appear On NAIA Preview Cover

Southern Oregon junior running back Brandon Baldwin will be featured on regional cover of the eighth annual College Fanz NAIA Football Preview magazine.

Baldwin will be on the cover along with Carroll College tight end Bubba Bartlett and Rocky Mountain quarterback Kasey Peters. The cover represents the stars from the Frontier Conference and NAIA Independent teams.

Football Adds 10th Game To 2010 Schedule

The 2010 Southern Oregon football schedule is now up to 10 games after the school announced today they have added a second game with Menlo.

The Raiders and Oaks have added a November 6 game to play at Atherton, Calif. The two teams already were scheduled to meet Sept. 25 in Ashland, SOU's home opener.

With the 10 games, the Raiders now have six games against NAIA foes. SOU will face Eastern Oregon (Aug. 28), Simon Fraser (Sept. 11), Menlo twice, Azusa Pacific (Oct. 30) and Northwestern Oklahoma State (Nov. 13) in NAIA games.

Watson Gets Chance To Shine For Scouts

Southern Oregon senior Will Watson will get the chance he’s worked his whole life for -- the chance to perform for NFL scouts.

Watson has been invited to attend the Pro Football Elite National Combine June 18-19 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

“This is my shot,” Watson said. “I need to go there and if I do well, hopefully I’ll get the opportunity to get invited to a training camp.”

Raider Red Zone Outing Brings 70 Alums Back

A group of nearly 70 Southern Oregon football alums attended Saturday's Second Annual Raider Red Zone Golf Tournament at Centennial Golf Course in Medford.

The tournament was run in conjunction with the annual Spring Football Game that took place Friday night at Raider Stadium.

Friloux Leads Black Team To Victory

Marshawn Friloux's early touchdown sparked the Black team to a 20-7 victory over the White team during tonight's annual Spring Football Game at Raider Stadium.

Friloux took the second play from scrimmage 58 yards up the middle to give the Black team a quick 7-0 lead.

Both teams struggled offensively through the rest of the first half with the Black team scoring on defense as Dayne Mendes returned a Mike McDonald pass 26 yards to make the score 13-0.

New Faces Filling Holes On Raider Defense

The Spring practices on the defense side of the ball for the Southern Oregon football team has consisted of nothing but opportunities for new faces to step up.

Those new faces will get a chance to shine Friday night in the annual Black and White Spring Game at Raider Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

“We have a lot of changes on the defensive side of the ball after losing so many starters to graduation,” SOU head coach Steve Helminiak said. “It’s presented a lot of opportunities for people to step up.”

SOU Offense Shaping Up During Spring Ball

Even with back-to-back 1,000 yard rushers, the offense of the Southern Oregon football team had some work to do during this year’s Spring practices.

SOU head coach Steve Helminiak likes what he has seen so far and that offense will be on display Friday night at the annual Black and White Spring Game. This year’s game gets underway at 7 p.m. at Raider Stadium and will feature a real game between evenly divided teams.

Raider Red Zone Golf Outing Set For May 1

The second annual Raider Red Zone golf outing is set for May 1 at Centennial Golf Club.

The tournament is a major fundraiser for the SOU football team and is put on by the Raider Red Zone, the alumni group of SOU football.

The tournament is a four-man scramble and the cost is $400 per team or $100 for an individual registration.

SOU Football To Host Medford Clinic

For the second straight year, the Southern Oregon football team will host its second annual Free Football Skills Clinic at U.S. Cellular Community Park in Medford Friday evening.

The clinic will be hosted at 5:30 p.m. on Field 10 and is open to all NFL Flag Football participants.

After the one-hour clinic, the NFL Flag Football Jamboree will take place starting at 6:40 p.m. and the SOU football team will return to the field at 8 p.m. for a Spring Football Scrimmage.
