Matz Finishes 14th in Marathon

Southern Oregon's Ryan Matz turned in an impressive performance during today's final day of the NAIA National Championships today in Marion, Ind.

Matz finished 14th in the marathon with a time of two hours and 42 minutes.

Top 10 Finishes Highlight Day Two At Nationals

Alex Waroff and Kelly Clark each turned in Top 10 finishes to lead Southern Oregon during the second day of the NAIA Track and Field National Championships in Marion, Ind.

Waroff finished sixth in the decathlon to earn All-American honors. Waroff finished with 6,620 points, while British Columbia's Reid Gustavson won the event with 7,026 points.

Waroff, Olstedt Leads Raiders During Day One

Decathlete Alex Waroff and hurdler Dennis Olstedt led a large group of Southern Oregon athletes during the opening day of the NAIA Track and Field National Championships in Marion, Ind.

Waroff sits in 11th place after the first day of the decathlon. Waroff has 3,246 points. British Columbia's Reid Gustavson leads the event with 3,942 points.

SOU Track Sending 16 To NAIA Championships

The Southern Oregon track and field team will send 16 individuals to the NAIA National Championships at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind.

The group will feature 10 on the men’s side and six on the women’s side. The National Championships start Thursday and run through Saturday.

Junior Alex Waroff is the highest ranked individual for the Raiders, ranking sixth in the decathlon with 6,390 points. Waroff will be making his second straight trip to the Nationals after finishing 13th last year.

20 Land On Spring Conference Academic List

A total of 20 Southern Oregon softball and track and field student-athletes have been named to the Spring Cascade Conference All-Academic squad.

A total of 189 student-athletes were honored by the conference. To earn the honor, the student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 and be at least a sophomore.

SOU Men Finish Second At Conference Championships

The Southern Oregon men's track and field team accomplished its goal of a second place finish in the team competition at the finale of the Cascade Conference Track and Field Championships in Mt. Hood Community College.

Concordia cruised to the men's title with 274 points, while the Raiders were second at 149 points and Eastern Oregon finished third at 119.5 points. On the women's side, Concordia again was untouchable - winning with 265 points and the Raiders finished fifth with 73 points.

Relay Victory Highlights Day Two At Track Championships

The Southern Oregon men came away with an NAIA Provisional mark in the 4x100 relay to highlight the Raiders' effort during Day Two of the Cascade Conference Track and Field Championships at Mt. Hood Community College.

The Raiders' squad of Josh Denson, Brandon Ritchie, Dennis Olstedt and Kwame Agyemang won the event with a time of 42.36, which ranks as the fifth fastest time in school history and is the first relay conference championship on the men's side for SOU since 2005.

Elliott Wins 10,000 At Conference Championships

Southern Oregon's Zach Elliott won the 10,000 and the Raiders scored 34 points in the event during Day One of the Cascade Conference Track and Field Championships tonight at Mt. Hood Community College.

Elliott won the event with a time of 31:33.95, which is an NAIA Automatic Qualifying time. Andrew Milne and Josh Seitz also earned Automatic times. Milne finished third with a time of 31:36.62 and Seitz finished fourth with a time of 31:39.29. Elliott and Milne earned All-Conference honors with their finishes.

Raiders Take Aim At Cascade Championships

A group of 40 athletes will represent the SOU track and field team at the CCC Track and Field Championships at Mt. Hood CC.

Going into the meet, it looks like Concordia is the clear favorite on both the men’s and women’s sides. After that it’s up for grabs.

“Every year our goal is to score more points,” SOU's Brent Ericksen said. “We are taking more people this year so that’s a great start. For the guys we want to give Eastern a run for second and I feel like we’ve closed the gaps. For the women, we still don’t have a lot of numbers, but we can still get better and score more points."

Olstedt Betters Provisional Mark At Sac State

Southern Oregon's Dennis Olstedt improved his NAIA Provisional mark in the 400 hurdles at today's Sacramento State Open.

Olstedt finished fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 55.05 to improve his time from last week by .40 seconds. Olstedt also finished seventh in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.59.

Kwame Agyemang just missed NAIA Provisional marks in the 100 and 200. Agyemang finished eighth in the 100 with a time of 10.95 and fifth in the 200 with a time of 22.26.
