Southern Oregon’s Leah Bergstrom and Heather Porter have been named 2009 Tachikara-NAIA All-American, the national office announced over the weekend.

Bergstrom and Porter were both named Honorable Mention.

The 21st-ranked Lewis-Clark State volleyball team won a thrilling five-set 15-25, 25-14, 30-32, 25-13, 16-14 victory over 13th-ranked Southern Oregon in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round at McNeal Pavilion.

With the victory, the Warriors advance to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa on Dec. 1-5.

The 13th-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team hopes to continue its recent trend of home dominance Saturday night when they host 21st-ranked Lewis-Clark State in the NAIA Volleyball National Championship Opening Round at McNeal Pavilion.

Saturday night’s match starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $8 for reserved seating, $6 for general admission and $2 for students. Passes and season tickets are not valid for the match.

Four Southern Oregon volleyball players and head coach Josh Rohlfing have earned Cascade Conference honors.

Rohlfing was named Cascade Conference Co-Coach of the Year along with College of Idaho’s Liz Mendiola. Leah Bergstrom, Heather Porter and Leanne Stennett earned All-Cascade Conference honors and junior Chelsea Hartman was named Newcomer of the Year and earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.

The 13th-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team earned its fifth NAIA National Championship bid and will host a 2009 NAIA National Championship Opening Round match Saturday at McNeal Pavilion.

The Raiders, who received one of eight at-large berths to the 2009 NAIA National Volleyball Championship presented by Siouxland Sports Medicine Foundation, will host Lewis-Clark State of Idaho Saturday at 6 p.m. in the opening round.

After never leading for most of the fourth set, the eighth-ranked College of Idaho volleyball team had an impressive comeback and knocked off 13th-ranked Southern Oregon 25-16, 25-15, 22-25, 29-27 to win the Cascade Conference Postseason Tournament title today in Caldwell, Idaho.

College of Idaho improves to 24-2 on the season and earns the conference's automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships. Southern Oregon falls to 24-3 overall and must wait until Sunday to see if they earn an at-large berth to the NAIA National Championships and when and where they will play. The NAIA National Tournament field will be announced at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Chelsea Hartman and Leanne Stennett helped 13th-ranked Southern Oregon down Eastern Oregon 17-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-19 during today's semifinal match of the Cascade Conference postseason tournament in Caldwell, Idaho.

Southern Oregon improved to 24-2 on the season and will face the winner of the College of Idaho/Concordia semifinal in tomorrow's 3 p.m .(MST) final. Southern Oregon has won 15 straight.

The Southern Oregon volleyball team will hits the road this weekend in search of the Cascade Conference Tournament crown in Caldwell, Idaho.

After finishing tied with College of Idaho for the conference regular season championship, the Raiders lost out on the fourth tiebreaker (sets won) and will have to travel for the conference tournament.

The 12th-ranked Southern Oregon volleyball team scored a 25-14, 25-15, 25-15 victory at Northwest University and earned a share of the Cascade Conference regular season championship.

Southern Oregon, winners of 14 straight, finished the regular season 23-2 overall and 17-1 in conference play and tied with College of Idaho for the Cascade Conference title. College of Idaho will host the conference tournament next week after winning more sets during the conference season. The Raiders open the tournament Friday against third-seeded Eastern Oregon, while College of Idaho faces fourth-seeded Concordia.
