The Southern Oregon women's soccer team scored a 2-1 victory at Northwest Christian tonight, but just missed out on going to the Cascade Conference Postseason Tournament.
Southern Oregon finished the season 7-8-2 overall and 5-3-1 in conference play. The Raiders finished in fifth place, one point behind fourth place Oregon Tech's 6-3 record. Northwest Christian finished the season 3-14 overall and 2-7 in conference play.
"It was a very physical match," SOU head coach Jon Clement said. "We had some bright moments and it was good to get another positive result on the road. There is a lot of potential for this group if we can get everyone healthy and stay healthy. We still have some growing to do and I"m confident that we can do that."
Southern Oregon got on the board first in the opening half as
Denise Powell (Grants Pass, Ore./Hidden Valley) scored her team-best seventh goal of the season.
Stacy Szeto (Roseville, Calif./Oakmont) added her second goal of the year to make it 2-0.
Northwest Christian took advantage of an SOU mistake to cut the lead to 2-1, but never was a threat after that.
