The fifth-ranked Southern Oregon wrestling team came away with five pins as the Raiders scored a 45-3 victory over Menlo this afternoon at McNeal Pavilion.

The Raiders improved to 3-2 on the season and host Pacific University Thursday night at 7 p.m. Menlo dropped to 0-2 on the season.

Southern Oregon opened the dual with three straight pins to put the Oaks on their heels.

Sophomore Mitchell Lofstedt (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg), the top-ranked 125-pounder, started the dual with a pin in 2:25. Brian Jacob (Tillamook, Ore./Tillamook) followed that up at 133 with a 4:51 pin of Drake Medieros and eighth-ranked Barry Johnson (Dayton, Ore./Dayton) pinned 10th-ranked Christian Martinez in 2:15 to give the Raiders an 18-0 lead after three matches.

Fifth-ranked Austin Vanderford (Ninilchik, Alaska/Ninilchik) (174) and sixth-ranked Chris Platt (Eagle Point, Ore./Eagle Point) (184) had the final two falls for the Raiders.

“I'm really happy with how we came out today,” SOU head coach Mike Ritchey said. “We came out aggressive and got after them and that's what we talked about doing for the beginning.”
