Southern Oregon’s Leah Bergstrom and Heather Porter have been named 2009 Tachikara-NAIA All-American, the national office announced over the weekend.

Bergstrom and Porter were both named Honorable Mention.

Bergstrom and Porter are coming off years where they both emerged as elite players in the Cascade Conference, with both earning Cascade Conference First Team honors.

Bergstrom emerged as SOU’s most consistent player, finishing fourth in the conference in attack percentage (.292), seventh in kills (2.83 per set) and eighth in total blocks (71).

Porter led the Cascade Conference in attack percentage (.353) and finished third in the conference in total blocks with 106.

The Raiders went 24-4 on the season, winning the Cascade Conference Regular Season title and advancing to the NAIA National Tournament.

This marks the third straight year a Raider has earned All-American status in volleyball and the 10th time in the last 11 years.
