SOU Men Finish Second At Conference Championships

The Southern Oregon men's track and field team accomplished its goal of a second place finish in the team competition at the finale of the Cascade Conference Track and Field Championships in Mt. Hood Community College.

Concordia cruised to the men's title with 274 points, while the Raiders were second at 149 points and Eastern Oregon finished third at 119.5 points. On the women's side, Concordia again was untouchable - winning with 265 points and the Raiders finished fifth with 73 points.

The Raiders finished with 13 All-Conference honors and three individual titles.

Junior Dennis Olstedt (Seaside, Ore./Seaside) has the lone victory for the Raiders on the day. Olstedt won the 400 hurdles with a time of 53.79 and winning the event by nearly two seconds. Olstedt's time ranks fourth all-time in SOU history.

Junior Seth Lindquist (Boring, Ore./Damascus Christian) also had a big day for the SOU men. Lindquist finished second in the long jump at 45-09.25, fifth in the high jump at 6-01.25 and fifth in the pole vault at 13-11.25 to wrap up his day with 16 points for the SOU men.

Senior Rosie Converse (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek), after finishing third and earning All-Conference honors in the heptathlon Thursday and Friday, also earned All-Conference honors on Saturday in the high jump with a second place jump of 5-01. Teammate Kali Ulmer (Bend, Ore./Sisters) finished fifth at 4-09. Converse also finished seventh in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:09.12, while teammate Amy Nelson (Eugene, Ore./Henry D. Sheldon) finished fifth at 1:07.17.

Junior Kwame Agyemang (San Jose, Calif./Achimota) wrapped up his meet with a second place finish in the 200 with a time of 22.55 to claim All-Conference honors. Agyemang won the 100 and was a part of the winning 4x100 relay squad Friday.

In the men's 800, senior Levi Roudebush (Grants Pass, Ore./North Valley) finished fourth with a time of 1:53.48, while in the men's 5,000 James Johnstone (Lake Arrowhead, Calif./Rim of the World) finished fifth in 15:13.90 and Andrew Milne (Redding, Calif./Redding Adventist Academy) finished sixth in 15:16.92.

Sophomore Chenin Young (Upland, Calif./Upland) finished seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 33-03.

In the shop put, Michael Ruppert (Winston, Ore./Douglas) finished fifth on the men's side with a throw of 45-06.50 and Holly Haga (Central Point, Ore. /Crater) finished fifth in the women's side at 38-04.25.

The SOU men also finished second in the 4x400 with a time of 3:22.21.
