Southern Oregon head softball coach Kim Fritts announced today that Christie Hill has joined the SOU staff as an assistant coach.

Hill comes to SOU after serving as an assistant coach at her alma mater CSU Bakersfield. Hill will be in charge of the SOU pitching staff and will also be in head up recruiting and camps and clinics.

"I'm elated that Christie has joined our staff here at SOU," Fritts said. "I believe she will take our pitching staff to the next level. Christie comes to us with great credentials and I look forward to working side-by-side with such an accomplished coach."

Hill has spent the past two seasons as the top assistant coach for the Roadrunners, a program that is making the move from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I.

As a player, Hill left her mark on the CSUB program.

Hill earned three All-American honors, including first team honors as a senior when she led the squad to the conference and NCAA West Regional titles.

The Roadrunners' all-time leading hitter with a .372 career batting average, Hill also finished her career as the program's recordholder in at bats (868), hits (323), doubles (65), RBIs (149) and runs (181). She also holds the single-season records for at bats (240), hits (90), doubles (20) and home runs (12).

As a pitcher, Hill finished as one of the top hurlers in program history with 78 wins, 342 strikeouts and a 1.71 ERA.
