Former Ashland High star and UNLV four-year starter Jessica Walters has joined the Southern Oregon volleyball program as an assistant coach.
SOU head coach
Josh Rohlfing announced the hiring of his former high school player this afternoon.
"I'm excited to hire someone that I respect and had the pleasure of coaching," Rohlfing said. "She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our program after playing Division I volleyball at UNLV."
Walters played for Rohlfing at Ashland High School in 2004 and 2005, along with current Raider setter
Lindsey Stone (Ashland, Ore./Ashland).
Walters earned All-State and All-Conference honors and helped lead the Grizzlies to the State Championship as a senior in 2005. As a sophomore in 2003, Walters earned All-State honors at North Medford High School.
Walters then took her game to UNLV where she started all four years for the Rebels, earning numerous preseason All-Tournament accolades as a sophomore and junior.
The outside hitter graduated from UNLV this past Spring with degrees in Journalism and Political Science.
