The Southern Oregon women's soccer team saw a first half lead disappear and ended up falling to Concordia-Irvine 4-2 today in Portland.
Concordia-Irvine improved to 1-1 on the season and SOU fell to 0-1. The Raiders head to the Bay Area to face Holy Names and William Jessup next weekend.
Southern Oregon jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal by junior Chenin Young off an assist by Sara Switzer. After Concordia evened the match at 1-1, SOU freshman Alyssa Bricker put the Raiders back on top 2-1 in the 35th minute.
That's when Concordia-Irvine opened the flood gates - scoring two goals in the final eight minutes of the half for a 3-2 halftime lead. The Eagles went on to add a second half goal for the 4-2 victory.
"Our defense was not very collegial," SOU head coach Jon Clement said. "We did some good things, but we still have some work to do."
