McLEAN, Va. – Southern Oregon forward Eric Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg) was selected to the Capital One College Division Men's Basketball Academic All-District 4 team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.

The 6-foot-7 junior is the first Raider to earn the honor since Brad Coen, a fellow Roseburg High graduate, in 2005.

Thompson was one of five members on the team, which recognizes key players of junior and senior academic standing with cumulative grade-point averages of 3.3 or better. NAIA student-athletes from 15 states and Canada were considered, and those selected will be among 20 nominees for the Academic All-America team.

Thompson, a psychology major who maintains a 3.54 GPA, was a Cascade Conference all-star and honorable mention NAIA All-American in each of his first two seasons at SOU. He currently averages 20.5 points on 51.9-percent shooting and 7.5 rebounds for the Raiders, who have a record of 18-5. With 12 more points, he'll move into second place on SOU's career scoring list.

The rest of the District 4 team includes Michael Greene (Northwest University), Andre Murilla (Biola), Tallon Robertson (Westminster) and Derek Dickerson (San Diego Christian).
