KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Southern Oregon University's fruitful fall between the lines was complemented by some impressive efforts in the classrooms as 13 Raider student-athletes from five falls teams became Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes.

SOU's football, soccer and volleyball teams were represented by three individuals each, and the Raider cross country teams combined to put four on the list.

To become eligible for the honor, one must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 and junior or senior academic status.

Representing SOU's NAIA champion football team were three seniors: Heston Altenbach (Coquille, Ore./Coquille), Daniel Breaux (Greenfield, Calif./Greenfield) and Austin Dodge (Vancouver, Wash./Skyview), who were each all-conference players on the field, too.

Junior Tyana Andrews (Rochester, Wash./Centralia) and seniors Sam Boehnke (Ashland, Ore./Ashland) and Brookelynn Cole (Portland, Ore./Central Catholic) were recognized from the Raider volleyball team, which finished at No. 13 in the NAIA rankings after a run to the national tournament.

From the SOU soccer team, seniors Elise De Jesse (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza) and Paige Kilpatrick (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley) and junior Allyson Ward (Santa Rosa, Calif./Santa Rosa) were honored.

As previously announced, the second-ranked SOU men's cross country team was represented by seniors Eric Ghelfi and Hayden Teachout. Senior Jessie Rozario and junior Rebecca Lupescu made the list for the Raider women. Both represented the team at the NAIA Championships, where they claimed 18th place.
