ASHLAND – Southern Oregon University's Lauren McGowne and Courtney Setzer on Monday were voted Cascade Conference Red Lion players of the week, the league office announced.

McGowne, a junior from Coos Bay on the 14th-ranked Raider volleyball team, was the setter of the week after leading SOU to a 2-1 record with 161 assists in 13 sets. During SOU's five-set victory Saturday over College of Idaho, McGowne established a new career-high with 60 assists and became the fifth Raider ever to reach the 3,000-assist mark for her career.

With 3,037 career assists, McGowne is directly behind Lindsey Stone (3,217) on the program list. She and the Raiders (22-3 overall, 15-3 CCC) will finish the regular season Friday and Saturday at Northwest Christian and Corban.

Setzer, a 6-foot freshman post from Central Point, dazzled in her debuts for the 16th-ranked SOU women's basketball team this week, first going for 27 points and 10 rebounds Thursday against Simpson – the highest point-total for an individual in a Raider opener since 2008 – and then recording 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks in Sunday's game at UC Merced.  She shot 15-of-26 from the field in the two wins, and on Sunday helped the Raiders overcome a 19-point halftime deficit before making the game-sealing free throws.

Setzer and the Raiders play an exhibition Friday at Boise State.
