Raiders end year with 21 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes

ASHLAND – Five student-athletes representing Southern Oregon University's spring teams earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete recognition, the national office announced Wednesday.

To qualify for the honor, a student-athlete must have reached junior or senior academic status and maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or better. During the 2015-16 academic year, a total of 21 Raiders were recognized.

From SOU's track and field teams, juniors Aspen Abbott (pre-physical therapy major) and Tierra Barrett (business administration) and seniors Jessie Rozario (health and physical education) and Matt Williams (mathematics) were honored. Alexa Gonzalez (pre-physical therapy), a senior, represented the Raider softball team.
