ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon women's wrestling team made the most of its first appearance at home in three months and last of the season Saturday night.

In their final outing before next week's Women's College Wrestling Association Championships, the 12th-ranked Raiders completed an 8-6 regular season by defeating Eastern Oregon, 36-9, at Mountain Avenue Gym.

The Raiders won three of the four contested classes – EOU forfeited the last five and SOU forfeited won – starting with Jade Martin's 8-4 decision at 109 pounds, as her takedown of Lisa MeGargee with 25 seconds left broke a tie for good. After Viannei Perez (116) secured EOU's only win, 6-0 over Annastassia Ramirez, SOU's sixth-ranked Kal Holliday (123) and fourth-ranked Alejandra Rodriguez (130) topped off unbeaten dual seasons in back-to-back bouts.

Rodriguez got Sarah Angelo, 10-0, in just 45 seconds. Holliday, celebrating her senior night, finished a 10-0 shutout of Makayla Grimm nine seconds before the first-round buzzer.

SOU will travel to Oklahoma City next week to compete at the national tournament Friday and Saturday.

"The team looked fantastic and is definitely in national championship condition heading into next week," SOU coach Tony Champion said. "And Kal is a performer, so it was nice to see her have a great night on her senior night."

SOU also defeated the Mountaineers last Sunday, 17-4, in the teams' first ever meeting.
