ASHLAND – Southern Oregon quarterback Tanner Trosin and men's soccer defender Gonzalo Garcia received conference player-of-the-week awards Monday after helping their respective teams to successful weekends on the road.

Trosin was voted the Frontier Conference's offensive player of the week for his part in the Raiders' 52-28 win Saturday at Montana Western. The senior from Folsom, Calif., completed 36 of 48 attempts for 404 yards, finishing with three passing touchdowns and one rushing TD. He hooked up with 10 different receivers without throwing an interception in the performance, and he now ranks third in the NAIA at 360.3 passing yards per game.

During his career in conference games, Trosin has totaled 21 passing TDs and four interceptions. He's attempted 192 passes since his last Frontier pick.

Garcia, a sophomore from Stockton, Calif., was part of a tight defensive effort that led the Raiders to Friday's 3-0 upset of ninth-ranked Rocky Mountain (Mont.) and Sunday's 2-1 win at College of Idaho. He was voted the Cascade Conference's defensive player of the week, as SOU's back line allowed just four shots on goal all weekend. He also assisted SOU's first goal at C of I, scored by Paul Matyas.

Both teams are home this weekend for the first time. The Raider men's soccer team hosts Multnomah at 2 p.m. Friday and Walla Walla (Wash.) at 11 a.m. Sunday, and the football team hosts Carroll (Mont.) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
