Raiders represented by 10 on Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete spring list

ASHLAND – Ten Southern Oregon University student-athletes from the Raiders' spring sports earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete recognition, the national office announced.

To attain the national Scholar Athlete designation, one must be a junior or senior academically, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or better, and have been enrolled their current institution for at least one year.

The Raiders were represented by four individuals from the men's track and field team: Noah Oberriter (pre-nursing major), Kevin Poteracke (mathematics), Hayden Saparto (business) and Ray Schireman (biochemistry). Kayle Blackmore (communications), Jessa Perkinson (psychology) and Erika Soderstrom (communications) were honored from the women's track and field team.

SOU's softball team put three more on the list: Tiana Brown (mathematics), Davalin Ontiveros (health and P.E.) and Kelsey Randall (business).

A total of 35 Raiders earned the award over the course of the 2017-18 academic year.
