Raider Club Fund Drive

Dear SOU Alums, Fans, Parents and Supporters

It’s time again for our annual Raider Club Fund Drive.

Every year is important, but this year is especially important for you to give to SOU Athletics.

We are entering an exciting time in SOU Athletics.

In March, SOU President Mary Cullinan announced a renewed commitment to athletics at SOU. With that announcement will come a change in funding that will allow the athletic department to be in position to apply for membership in NCAA Division II in five to seven years.

With the school increasing their funding level, this is your chance as parents, boosters, alums and fans to show your support and allowing SOU to reach the NAIA median in scholarships and then look to moving toward NCAA Division II.

We are finishing another impressive school year as an athletic department.

• For the first time in school history, the Raiders had five programs (volleyball, men’s cross country, women’s cross country, wrestling and men’s basketball) ranked in the NAIA Top 25 polls at the same time this past Fall. Both the men's cross country and wrestling teams were ranked No. 1 this past year.

• Overall this year, all but three SOU teams were ranked in the NAIA Top 25 poll.

• The men's cross country team won its second straight Cascade Conference championship and finished third at the NAIA National Championships, the best finish ever for the Raiders.

• The SOU volleyball team won the Cascade Conference championship and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament, hosting a National Tournament match for the first time in school history. The Raiders also had a pair of players earn All-American status.

• The football team went undefeated against NAIA teams and Jordan Meyers was named All-American.

• The wrestling team finished second at the NAIA National Championships and Mitchell Lofstedt and Barry Johnson won National Championships. Lofstedt was also named the NAIA Wrestler of the Year.

• The women's basketball team advanced to the postseason for the fourth straight year and Jacki Speer was named Conference Player of the Year and earned All-American honors for the second straight year.

• SOU student-athletes continue to graduate at nearly 90 percent and have an average GPA of around 3.0 - both well above the general student body at SOU.

As you can see, things are on the upswing here at SOU and we need your help to get to the next level.

We ask that if possible, you get involved with the Fund Drive. Even if it’s just at the minimal level this year, it will help us build for brighter and better future.
